Passion for Fishing

Hi, My name is Charlie.  I like to fish.

I have been fishing for a long time.  Since I was little!  I ain't been little in a long time!

 I have always fished and enjoyed fishing.  I like fishing all different types of fish, including dog fish and carp!  In High School my freshman year they started a Fishing Team at our school.  That was my intro to competitive Bass fishing.   I am currently attending & fishing in college for the Montevallo Falcons in Alabama.  They were the National Champions back to back 2021 & 2022 seasons!  I hope to help them secure the trophy for the 3-peat!

Follow along as I fish tournaments across the United States, Guide, Teach and Go Bigg toward my dream of becoming a Professional Fisherman!

 I began fishing when I was young.  My Dad was an avid angler and we had family cabins in Minnesota and Canada.  We also would visit my Great Grandma in Florida and we would fish there too. I have spent countless hours on the dock, at the river, on a paddleboat, and on a boat just fishing.  I enjoy snorkeling and looking at fish and habitat too.  I have just always had a passion for fishing and water.  The fun I have fishing is contagious and I would get friends and kids on our baseball team to fish a small river by our house.  My friend Carter Hietala has been with me on lots of adventures and was my fishing partner all through High School.  We actually started fishing together when we were around 10. When in High School my Dad would take me to Non-Profit Christian Camps where we were the guides.  We would take kids, pastors, drug recovering kids/adults from Teen Challenge, inner city church groups, and all types of people fishing.  At 16 I became a guide and started taking people fishing on my own at some of these camps.  If it wasn't allowed, the camp leaders would just let me run the boat.  We fished many different lakes and it forced you to learn how to catch fish quick on new bodies of water.  Many parents don't allow their kids to drive the boat or trolling motor.  But my parents allowed me to start fishing on my own around 12 years old.  All of these experiences have developed me into the angler I am today.  I enjoy taking people fishing and showing them how to catch fish.  I also believe in Jesus and really do believe that God has helped me along in this journey.  I appreciate the follows on social media.  Just living the dream and hopefully it will turn into a career someday!  - Biggtime

• 2020 High School Team of the Year in the Minnesota Student Angler Tournament Trail 

                 1 / 400 individual teams.  

•  2nd Place -  High School SATT Tournament of Champions on Mille Lacs Lake.  Carter and I earned $5500 in scholarships. 
• MLF/|BFL Regional Qualifier 2020 & 2021 Top 25% of Field 
• 2021 was a big year as I traveled and fished Co-Angler and Marshalled in Pro Tournaments across the country.  I had a mini-van and stayed in the back most of the time.  My favorite was being a Marshal on Lake Okeechobee in Florida.  I got to ride along on the last cut day - top 10.  Learning and being on new water with the pros was a great lesson.  We hit 2 alligators too!
• Then, coach William called from Montevallo and sold me on the Presidential Outdoors Scholars program and college bass team.  I started my college career in the Fall of 2021 for the Falcons!  It has been an incredible journey so far.  The college, coaches and teammates have been a blessing.  God will put you in the right place at the right time with the right people. 
• Fall 2021, partner Blair and I fished 6 collegiate Bass Tournaments in 4 states (Illinois, Arkansas, Wisconsin, Missouri)
• 1st College Win!  - Madison Lake in Wisconsin in October!  It was great getting up north again.  Blair and I won by 2 pounds and beat the Wisconsin kids right in their back yard.  It was pretty awesome.  Their school is literally on the lake!  It was a great confidence booster and it felt good to weigh in a great bag on tourney day.
• 2021 Spring we fished tournaments in Florida, Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi. We did ok, but not the finishes we would have liked.  Lots of big tourneys with over 200 boat fields.
• 2021/2022 National Championship Team - University of Montevallo Falcons!  We won the Bass Pro Shops School of the year for the 2nd year in a row!  Back to Back!
• Spring 2022 - Provided Guide Service Packages for bidding for Fishing for Life,  Legacy fishing retreat and Minnesota Fishing Hall of Fame fundraising events.  Took winning bidders fishing!
• June 2022 - Boat captained for Coop & Eli - High School National Championship - Pickwick Lake  Florence, Alabama.  They made a good cut for top in the State for Friday.  Failed to make top 31 teams on final cut day.  425 boat field!  I previously fished it in 2019 for High School Nationals.  It was great to get back and utilize different tools to catch fish.  Learned a lot in 3 years! 
• 2022 - Boat Captain - Continued to support my High School Alma Matter Becker Bass Team by boat captaining for the Student Angler Tournament Trail and local team events.

• July 2022 - 4th Place College MLF Central Conference!  New College Partner, Logan Plueger (Falcon Guy) flew up from Georgia and we fished an MLF Tourney on the Mississippi out of LaCrosse, WI (Pools 7/8/9). We took 4th place overall out of 124 teams and qualified for the 2022/2023 MLF National Championship!  4+ days of pre-fishing paid off.  
• Boat Captaining for Cooper and Eli we took 2nd place on the Mississippi River Pools 4/5 out of 128 boat field.  Good 3 days of practice and learning from MLF College tournament helped seal the deal.  They qualified for the SATT - State TOC.
• August - Back to College (National Champion)  Attended Award and Ring Celebration Banquet!
• 2022 Major League Fishing - School of the Year National Champions - Montevallo Falcons
