Frequently Asked Questions

What do you do about inclement weather?

  •  We ask that people come prepared to fish in the weather conditions for the trip, which may include light rain or cold weather gear.
  • Weather is  uncontrollable and at times we may have to postpone or reschedule our trips.  We will provide a 24 hour advanced notice if we believe the weather will be unsafe or unfishable.

What are the payment options?

  • All trips require a $100 Non-Refundable deposit when booking.
  • Accepted payments include Cash, Check, Card, Venmo and PayPal.

When is the best time to fish the Mississippi?

  • Early summer the water is usually higher and the fish are typically schooled up in the slack water. Finesse techniques like ned rigs, tubes and wacky worms typically produce good numbers.
  • Mid Summer the water is heating up and the fish start to get more aggressive. Finesse baits still produce numbers but moving baits like top waters and chatter baits start to heat up.
  • Late Summer through early Fall the water is typically low and hot. This is when fish begin to feed up for the winter. With the right water conditions the fish will eat anything that moves and the top water bite is on fire.

Do you actually have a fish catching guarantee?

  • Yes, if no fish are caught on the trip your next adventure is on us. Though it’s never happened before,  we want to guarantee a memorable fishing experience.

What boat will we be in?

  • For Mighty Mississippi, a jet boat is the ultimate tool. We currently utilize a 20ft Lowe Big River center console with a 150 Mercury Jet on the back of it. This setup lets us cover water safely and effectively, while providing a very comfortable and stable fishing platform.

Can I keep fish?

  • To protect our resources we are catch and release only.
  • Bow fishing trips are not catch and release.

What if I need to reschedule?

  • Rescheduling requires a 2 day (48 hour) advanced notice.  We are happy to rebook your trip, your deposit / payment will be utilized for the rescheduled trip. Please message us to reschedule your trip.

MOre About our Adventures

What are we fishing for?

The Mississippi River from Elk River to St. Cloud has some of the best smallmouth bass fishing Minnesota has to offer.  Smallmouths aggressive behavior paired with current from the Mighty Mississippi makes for a one of a kind fishing experience. It's not uncommon to catch 50+ fish in a day.  And if the topwater bite is on, you won't want to miss out!  Smallmouth are one of the most abundant species in the river, but it is not uncommon to catch a variety of species.  One of the most exciting things about the Mississippi River is you never know what is on the end of your line!
