What are we fishing for?

On the Mississippi the main target species is Smallmouth Bass. The stretch of the river from Elk River to Brainerd is known to have some of the best smallmouth fishing Minnesota has to offer. Their aggressive behavior paired with the non-stop current from the Mighty Mississippi makes for a one of a kind smallmouth experience. It's not uncommon to catch 50+ fish in a day. If the topwater bite is on, you won't want to miss out! Although smallmouth are one of the most abundant species in the river, it is common to catch Walleye, Pike, Catfish, Carp and even the occasional Muskie. One of the best reasons to fish the Mississippi River is you never know what is on the end of your line!

A guided fishing trip for 1-2 people on the Mississippi River.
Typical fishing is done on the stretch of the Mississippi River from St. Cloud to Elk River
Flexible meeting location and scheduling
The "Barge" - 20ft Lowe Big River Center Council with 150hp Jet, makes fishing comfortable and safe on the river!
All fishing gear including rods, reels, tackle, ect.
- You can bring your own gear if desired
Cooler with ice, waters and snacks
- You are welcome to bring your own food or beverage
Life Jackets provided and highly encouraged to be worn while we are running the river.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do you do about inclement weather?

Plan to fish in light rain, if forecasts are calling for heavy rain or thunderstorms we will contact you with your options. We ask that people come prepared to fish in the weather conditions for the trip, which may include rain or cold weather gear.
Weather is uncontrollable and at times we may have to postpone or reschedule our trips. We will provide a 24 hour advanced notice if believe the weather will be unsafe or unfishable.

What are the payment options?

All trips require a $50 Non-Refundable deposit when booking.
All payments methods are accepted (cash/check/venmo).

Is a Minnesota Fishing License Required for Guided Trip?

Yes, you will need to purchase a Minnesota Fishing License.

Can I keep fish?

To protect our resources on the Mississippi, we are a catch and release guided trip.

What boat will we be in?

For Mighty Mississippi, a jet boat is the ultimate tool. We currently utilize a 20ft Lowe Big River center console jet boat, with a 150 Mercury on the back of it. This setup lets us cover water safely and efficiently, while providing a very comfortable and stable fishing platform. There is also plenty of room to fish from the center of the boat too. For loading and unloading please let us know if there are any special needs or if a dock/stairs will be required for entry. We will work to accomodate all clients!

What if I need to reschedule?

If trips need to be rescheduled please let us know at least 2 days in advance. Please contact Charlie 612-804-7244 to discuss rescheduling.
We will work with everyone in attempts to reschedule trips if needed.
